Living the best life

The places I wander are the places I love; the garden around my little house, the bush just outside the side gate, the edge of the water around Princess Royal Harbour, the tracks of the Torndirrup National Park. These are easy to access, and it's a short walk to enjoy them.

Every day is a new opportunity to enjoy the beauty surrounding me; to stop and chat with the people who live nearby; to experience the sights and sounds of the harbour, and the extensive areas of bush. It's here near my home that I'm happy and contented with a life that is so worth living.

I praise God for His continued faithfulness to me, for His amazing grace upon my life, and the blessings that follow me everywhere I go.

I love to encourage others, even amid things that look hopeless; there is always kindness, a gentle touch, a quiet word, and at times, being present is what is needed.

Listen and hear the quiet voice inside; it will always be encouraging you with love and kindness.

Albany, Western Australia

A few months ago, I was asked to take some photos for a friend; Middleton Beach, Ellen Cove, Emu Point, and the surrounding areas.

Unfortunately, they have been unable to see the photos, things happen, and plans don't always turn out like you think they will. So I've got lots of lovely photos in a folder and thought I'd choose some to share.

Sort, sort, sort ....... what is a favourite?

Looking at the photos from the past 12 years is time-consuming; there are thousands of them. I have improved at taking them, but the editing and where I save them is a work in progress; a lot of work and progress are required. Today I'm determined to transfer some from the "working on" to the "done" on external hard drives! Sort, sort, sort ....

I started this blog in February 2024.

I'm here over a year later, in April 2025, and I've been in my little house between the water and the bush for 13 years. I have progressed a little with the many photos I have taken over the past 13 years, but there's still much to do. And I've bought a new Laptop in the past year, having to transfer and save from the old to the new was a mission!

Some favourites from the sea, to the bush, and the wildflowers and orchids taken over the past few years.

BE STILL ..............

We hurry along, often captive to this somewhat shackled existence we call life.

Taking a moment falls victim to responsibility.

And questions fill those quiet reflective spaces.

Take time, take a while, look beyond the noise that consumes your day to day.

Walk, breathe, listen .... Reignite the path to life's truly valuable and precious moments.

Written by R.B. Fergusson

My son Ronald wrote these words to me many years ago; I still see the compassion in them.

 My most precious ones!

You're only truly happy when you walk in total integrity, walking in the light of God's Word.          Psalm 119:1 The Passion Translation

The place I call home

My little garden has beautiful colourful flowers, many are in pots that I replenish each season.

Petunias make a great show with their beautiful bright flowers.

A bit crowded in places; the covering over the old clothesline is for shade-loving plants.

The front looks pretty with lots of Dahlias and Statice flowering for summer colour.

We've now had lots of Autumn rain and sunshine, and the garden is slowing down for the next season.  Then it will be time to remove these annuals to sow seeds and plant seedlings for the next season of colourful flowers.

Around Grandmums Place is looking good

This place always gives me joy, I can't think of a time when I don't enjoy the scenes around me so close to home. I see the same things but every time I see them they look different; the light, the time of day, and the weather, all lead to differences in the result of my photos.

Nice place for a little rest when walking through the local bush

Living my best life

Living close to the water is such a huge blessing. I often walk down to enjoy the view across the Harbour and check on the local Pelicans.

Albany at this time of year is nice and cool, sometimes a bit windy, but very pleasant for a wander in the bush, a walk along the beach, or for spending time in the garden.

Coming home to this beautiful place is always refreshing and makes me smile, I'm so blessed to live here, have my little garden to tend, and wander to the water or the bush for a nice walk whenever I feel like it.
